About the event
Thinking about power and privilege is something we’ll all hopefully continue to do in our work for decades to come, rather than something we can ‘quick-fix’.
The practice of discussing these uncomfortable subjects is not intended to be trust-building, but often to in fact make people feel uncomfortable in order to raise their awareness. Doing the workshop however involves an exploration of trust and an endeavour to be non-judgemental.
Doing a training workshop can’t ‘heal’ us, but definitely puts us on the right path. So join us for uncomfortable, vulnerable and brave conversations .
During our 45 minute virtual workshop we will take you on an exploration of what the words privilege, oppression, unearned entitlement, means. Then how the existence of privilege
and the lopsided distribution of power is rooted in a legacy we all inherited, and while we’re here, it belongs to us, but It isn’t our fault.
But now it’s all ours, it’s up to us to decide how we’re going to deal with it before we collectively pass it along to the generations that will follow ours. Talking about power and privilege isn’t easy, which is why people rarely do.
The fear keeps people from looking at what;s going on and makes it impossible to do anything about the reality that lies deeper down, so that they can move toward the kind of world that would be better for everyone.
Sign up so that you can do better to be better.
